Carrying Case August 3, 2010 P. Duggan (Bayfield, CO, USA) This carrying case does what it is supposed to - protect the expensive electronic device inside it while allowing full functionality. I am very pleased that I can easily press all of the buttons through the case. The only drawback to this item is that there is no access to the back data port and power port. This is a minor inconvenience, but maybe the next generation case could have a flap on the back for access, as I use both of these ports regularly
How to connect unit with casing to PC? August 2, 2010 Tyts This is a good carrying case for the GPSMAP 60Cx. I think it just forgot to include an opening for connecting the unit to the PC (via USB). Hence, the GPS unit needs to be removed from the casing to establish connection. Troublesome but liveable.
Useful only in dry conditions July 25, 2010 C. R. Smith (Austin, TX USA) The case fits well and has nice construction detail. The GPS buttons can be used reasonably well through the flexible plastic. Unfortunately, the soft plastic also soaks up moisture and becomes translucent making it impossible to see the GPS screen. The plastic reclears when it dries out. Since a handheld GPS like the 60 series is often used on boats and in other situations where water is present, this is a pretty amazing, and fatal, design flaw for the case. The stretch material on the back also soaks up water like a sponge. I use the somewhat kludgier DryPak cases and Pelican boxes for GPS wet work; at least the plastic stays clear.
The case has cutouts for the lanyard and belt clip. People have pointed out that the belt clip stud can unscrew from the GPS which then drops to the pavement, into the water, etc. Whenever I use any mounting system with any GPS, I always attach the lanyard as a backup safety line. Never trust any bike, auto, or belt clip mounting system to secure your GPS.
Quality Protection July 23, 2010 Kevin L. Gallagher This is a quality piece of equipment. Considering how expensive the 60csx is, the small price to purchase this item is well worth it. I didn't have any problem pushing the buttons through the clear vinyl screen as other's have said, but even if I did, I would just remove the unit, push the buttons, and replace it.
REQUIRED if you own a Garmin 530 CHX May 24, 2010 The Blue Max (Stanwood, WA) If you own a Garmin 530CHX you need this protective cover. It protects the screen, buttons and whole unit. The back velcros when you need to plug it in and it is a well made product.
Don't buy Non Garmin products that don't fit or fall apart after the first season.
Excellent product and I own two.
