Product Description Sony MDR-NC11 Noise Canceling Fontopia(R) Earbud Headphones - Don't be so shocked by the price, these are not your typical earbud headphones. Utilizing advanced technology the Fontopia(R) MDR-NC11 headphones has a high performance Noise Canceling feature. Turn the Noise Canceling switch to "on" and experience a near 70% reduction in outside noise! This is great for helping you enjoy your music to the fullest, or in situations where you need some extra peace & quiet. Like at work or while traveling. Frequency Response - 10-22,000Hz Battery - 1 AAA Battery (not included)
Amazon.com Product Description Small enough to keep with you at all times and ideal for achieving peace and quiet in planes, trains, buses, and cars, Sony's MDRNC11 noise-canceling Fontopia ear-bud headphones reduce perceived outside noise by more than 70 percent (up to 10 dB at 300 Hz) so you can hear musical nuances against a quieter background. The headphones' noise-canceling circuit senses outside noise using tiny, built-in microphones and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the headphone drivers, effectively blocking solid-state (continuous) noise from 50 to 1,000 Hz. It's especially effective on noises like air-conditioning systems, freeway rumble, and airplane engines (from a passenger's perspective). The switchable noise-canceling circuitry runs for approximately 60 hours on a single AAA alkaline battery. When noise canceling is off, the headphones continue to function for standard music listening (and with slightly better sound quality). An inline volume control lets you adjust the sound without having to access your sound source.

silencer function not too good January 5, 2009 In my opinion the silencer function does not work too well. Will perhaps get better with a set of earplugs that fit better and a new set of batteries.
Decent but doesn't last September 1, 2008 I bought a pair when it first came out mainly for use during plane commutes. The in-ear feature takes a bit to adjust to but it works well on the plane and the volume feature is useful. However, when I tried these on while working out, they kept falling off my ears because of outer shape of the heardphone. Sadly, less than a year, the sound was also completely lost in one earphone. I'm a sony worshipper but for the price and the brand, I expected better quality and better fit. I think I'll have to find other brand for my new pair.
would recomend May 14, 2008 i would recomend this company to everyone, the product was exactly as described....but my son decided he didnt want them, returning them was a piece of cake.they refunded my money, no questions asked.i would and will shop with them again
MDR-NC11 March 18, 2008 Not a favorite. I've gone back to the over-ear unit I was using prior to this purchase.
The best I've ever had January 11, 2008 The reviews indicate that the Sony noise-cancelling earbuds are the best you can buy for the price, and I wholeheartedly concur. They work well with my iPod and iPhone (a Belkin adaptor/connector is needed for the iPhone), and I love using them on the plane. They do a great job cancelling noise on the plane, and I even use them as earplugs to help me sleep on long flights. The battery is long-lasting (AAA), and the cloth carrying case makes them easy to store anywhere. I've had mine over four years now, and they're still doing great. I'm just now going in to buy a set for my friend.
