Don't buy November 26, 2008 Magellan Customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They offer a free 30 day map update since all of their products ship with out of date maps. This would be a good thing except it is in the fine print of their products and their customer support email address that their website list is the wrong address. I had to get through to their customer service by posting a bad review on their website. By the time they responded my unit was beyond the 30 day limit and they refused to give me the update. This is a bad business practice. Garmin has a 60 day guarantee which is posted directly on their website in plain view.
Now I am Found! November 4, 2008 Great purchase! I am in outside sales and this baby has been right on the money every time! I can not drive with out my device! Everyone should own one....
Unit works well; mount failed very quickly - cheaply made April 19, 2008 We've used the unit on cross-country trips and inner city short excursions without any significant problems. The software is slow to update when you unexpectedly change routes. I've also had problems with the map initializing its position at startup on occasion. I still haven't figured out how to update the map software.
Almost immediately after getting the unit, the swivel joint had difficult locking up. It always seemed loose resulting in the face dipping down and being difficult to see. After a call to service, I was able to successfully tighten the embedded screw. The problem happened repeatedly and I'd just retighten the screw. Well I finally discovered months after the warranty expired that the little plastic housing inside the swivel mount was actually breaking down. About a year after purchase, it completely tore. So I now have to buy a new entire mount for ~$30...
not a bargain February 13, 2007 I read in one review that there was a language issue with tech support. I had the same unpleasant experience. Finally just terminated the conversation. My unit came with no local map, just the interstate system. It aquired position right away. but still quite useless. after reading the review about the extended warranty biz? I think I'm sending this puppy back. Did you know you can get a phone with a gps in it for about two fifty? I looked at them in a verizon store this weekend.
A waste of money! January 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This factory refurbished model 360 GPS worked for about ten hours. Initially it worked fine. It then failed to pick up the satellite signal or would loose the signal as a drove along on a trip. I called tech support for help twice. The service personnel are very difficult to understand and they also have trouble understanding me. It is a language issue. They suggested various tests and reprogramming but it did not correct the problem. The unit was fifteen days past the 90 day warrantee so they wanted me to ship back the unit and charge me $144.00 to examine it. I can't afford to pour any more money down that hole for ten hours of service. Stay away from the refurbished unit and don't buy a new unit without an extended warrantee.
