Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Driveway Patrol Security Alarm System is an infrared sensor that alerts you when someone crosses its path. When placed across the driveway or on your porch, a pleasant chime will sound alerting you that someone has come onto your property. Driveway Patrols amazing wireless technology provides easy mobility. Simply place the sensor by the front door, garage, mailbox, or anywhere else near your home and the unit will send a signal to its receiver (up to 400 feet away)! With Driveway Patrols motion sensor activation, you will always know when someone is coming up to your house before they ring the doorbell! Driveway Patrol Security Alarm System is weather resistant, installs easily with only a screwdriver, and only needs one 9 V and 3 "C" batteries, not included.

Amazon.com Review
When a visitor--wanted or unwanted--approaches a house on foot or in a vehicle the motion-detecting sensor unit of this warning device sends a signal to the receiver indoors, which chimes an alert. The device is wireless and has a 400-foot range. It requires three C-cell batteries for the receiver and one 9-volt battery for the transmitting sensor. (Batteries are not included.) The sensor is housed in weather-resistant plastic, installs with a screw on any surface, such as a mailbox post, garage, or door, and measures 4-1/4 inches high, 2-5/8 inches wide, and 2-1/4 inches deep. The portable receiver has an identical housing, can be set to chime high or low (or turned off), and measures 5 inches high, 3-5/8 inches wide, and 1-1/2 inches deep. --Fred Brack

4 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says...   December 24, 2008
For the price, it does exactly what it says and does it well. I get advance notice (via beeping) that someone is approaching the front door and garage. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but works great!

2 out of 5 stars Good Units are Rare   December 15, 2008
I purchased two of these units through one of Amazon's online vendors known as AsSeenOnTvGuys. This company has a bad reputation online for leaving customers nasty email messages with a lot of profanity, and by not honoring their products. These guys also advertise on eBay a lot, and they make up their prices by charging outrageous shipping costs. When you purchase from them, you think that you are getting a good deal due to the cost. But when you see your shipping charges, most of the time it is double if not tripled the cost of the product. The Driveway Patrol unit itself is ok if it stays in dry environment. I just had one of my two go out by sounding off constantly, and I have only had it about 5 months now.

This is a great item for safety and security at a great price. I love it!

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, buy The Reporter instead   December 6, 2008
I bought this a few years ago. At times it worked, but mostly it gave false alarms constantly. I bought the Reporter more than a year ago, and it alarms 99.9% of the time, and I have not had any false alarms. Don't waste your money on this thing

1 out of 5 stars Too many false alarms...   November 25, 2008
I bought this product couple of months ago, and I have tried using it many times. Other than false alarms the unit pretty much work as expected. However, it gives too many false alarms, to become useless. The motion detector is too sensitive and there is no way of controlling it. It comes factory prefixed settings.

Here are my observations on false alarm conditions:
- Tree leaves moving causes the alarm to go off.
- During fall, dry leaves moving cause the alarm to go off
- If there is sudden changes in sunlight on a cloudy day, the alarm goes off

I also have motion detector security light installed, which works perfectly. The light goes on only when there is someone (or fairly large object) moving. Hardly any false trigger on it.

That makes me think this driveway patrol has been designed poorly and does not serve the purpose.

My whole family got annoyed with this, as it definitely does not work as expected. So everyone in my house switches it off after couple of hours I switch it on.

It would have been great product without this flaw as cost is reasonably low, and everything else is works just fine.

I would not recommend to anyone to purchase. It might be possible that the unit I got is defective.

It is useless product ..... DO NOT BUY IT!
