Product Description Garmin has introduced two new in-vehicle GPS receivers for use in your car or truck, the StreetPilot c320 and Street Pilot c330. We'll be discussing both in each description as both are virtually identical with one key difference. The c320 comes with Mapsource City-Select award-winning software on CD (for installation into a notebook or desktop computer) and uses a 128MB SD card which allows you to download a particular region for GPS mapping as you drive. The c330, on the other hand, comes pre-loaded with highly detailed MapSource City Select street data of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The database features an industry-leading five million-plus points of interest?including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. So, if you do lots of long-distance continental driving, the c330 may be the better value for you. If you usually stick to driving within a section of the country, the c320 might just be the best for you. Both are exceptional units but you must choose which is best for you. Either way, you can be assured that you'll get where you want to go easily and comfortably. Choose between a three-dimensional navigation view or the more traditional ?bird's eye? overhead view Each boasts distinctive and sleek styling?the only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The device is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield for easy portability among vehicles. Users can customize their unit's appearance with an array of colored faceplates (sold separately). WAAS-enabled 12 parallel channel GPS Built-in patch antenna; MCX-type connector for optional external GPS antenna connection Unit dimensions - 4.4? W x 3.2? H x 2.8? D
Amazon.com Product Description With a simple touch screen interface, automatic route calculation to any destination, and turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions, the StreetPilot c330 GPS navigator is a powerful companion for your adventures on the road. Plus, Garmin has designed the "c-series" of car navigation units to be as simple and easy-to-use as possible-- no more intimidating features, just straightforward, basic navigation at your fingertips. Selecting a destination is as simple as a few finger-strokes, and you can choose between a three-dimensional navigation view or the more traditional "bird's eye" overhead view.
The streetPilot "c-series" GPS navigators feature a simple touchscreen interface, with automatic route calculation to any destination. |
The 3.5-inch diagonal, 16-bit color display makes navigation a snap. |
The included database features nearly six million points of interests including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. | The c330 keeps track of places that you find and stores the fifty most recent finds in an easy to access list called Recent Selections, placing the most recently viewed at the top of the list. This becomes a very helpful feature if you visit the same places over and over and don't want the inconvenient of reloading the information in the unit multiple times. Although the c330 boasts distinctive and sleek styling, simplicity is the name of the game. The only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The device is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield for easy portability between vehicles. You can customize the unit's appearance with an array of colored faceplates that are sold separately. For the ultimate out-of-the-box convenience, the StreetPilot c330 comes pre-loaded with highly detailed MapSource City Select street data. The database features an industry-leading five million-plus points of interest, including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. The c330's bright, 3.5-inch diagonal, 16-bit color display makes navigation a snap. The unit also features dual integrated speakers for high-quality voice prompts, and an internal lithium-ion battery for out-of-car route planning. It's also worth mentioning that with some GPS units the manual to use them is as thick as a phone book, but it was a pleasant surprise to find that the c330's manual was very easy to use and provided many screen shots to make sure the user understood the units capabilities. If you find yourself on the road looking for addresses often and just want a GPS to tell you where to go simply and clearly than this unit was made for you. What's in the Box StreetPilot c330,Preloaded City Navigator NT for North America or Europe (full coverage), Vehicle suction cup mount with integrated power cable, USB cable, USB drivers disk, Dashboard disk, Quick reference guide

GPS C330 November 30, 2008 I have had my GPS for over a year and it has been great. Yes, the maps are outdated but lets face it, the roads haven't changed that much that it does not work. Momentarilly it thinks we are in a field but for the most part it gets us to where we are going. Now though, I might get an updated version. They are running cheaper these days and may have updated maps. My complaint is if I want to update the map I have to pay at least $50 - $70. They should have the maps cheaper since we just paid a lot of money for the GPS unit. I am hoping they realize this because we can buy a cheap GPS for the same price as an update. Eventually it will be cheaper to buy a new GPS than to pay the same price for a map update. All in all this is a nice GPS. I might choose the flat screen because it can be slipped into a purse. I didn't because I liked the feature of the speakers on the sides since I don't hear very well. But everyone says you can still hear and understand very well the flat screens, even though the speaker is in the back against the windshield.
Garmin StreetPilot c330 November 23, 2008 Absolutly incredible as to what this GPS will do!! Very happy with this purchase. Worth every penny!
For Techno-Challenged, Incredibly Easy to Use November 21, 2008 Gadgets can either change your life (i.e. make some aspect of your life easier/better) or they can be expensive paper weights. The Garmin StreetPilot changed my life!!! It's easy to use (idiot-proof, I promise) and means I don't ever have to call my husband and annoy him by asking for directions! Worth it's weight in gold just for that!
I have tried using other more expensive GPS systems and they all seem much more complicated to use even if they have better features. I have had this Garmin for over 2 years now and STILL don't feel the need to trade-up.
Garmin C330 November 17, 2008 The greatest thing for the wrong turn person. I wonder though how it chooses it's routes sometime. When it tells you to make a right and you know that the left is quicker. But then, I use it when I need to go somewhere new. It is even better now that I upgraded the maps. ($70.00) It will be in my car forever.
The good, the bad, and the ugly. November 12, 2008 I actually bought this item new. But as I am looking for an additional GPS and am having a difficult time deciding, I thought if someone else was in my same position this might help them if they are considering this unit.
Initially this unit worked pretty well most of the time. We have taken it on numerous vacations, as well as using it locally to find businesses we did not know the location of. It will usually get you to within sight of where you are going. Occasionally it has taken us right to the front door of our destination with no mistakes. Unfortunately, it has also in the same city directed us to turn the wrong way on a one way street. (Savannah) Or, in the Nashville area, it lost signal and would not re-obtain it when I was in a busy and unfamiliar part of town. One of my biggest complaints is that on cloudy days always, and sunny days sometimes, it will lose signal and the unit will have to be completely reset. (Which is impossible to do while driving.) It also has very old maps. Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, Tennessee has been in business for 8 years and it was still not listed as of my last map update in June of this year.
It is very "hit and miss" with this machine. You can not depend on it to always be accurate and it can put you in potentially dangerous situations. When it is accurate it is great!! But I would suggest keeping another source for directions as a back up. (Does that not defeat the purpose of the GPS?)
