My First GPS December 4, 2008 This unit does everything it's supposed to. My only tiny complaint is that at 90-100% volume, the back plastic shell vibrates a little, making the sound a little harsh. It is not the speaker distortion, but the speaker is actually so loud that it vibrates the plastic shell. 80% volume is perfect, even driving on freeway with radio on. Satellite aquistion is fast, voice (American Samantha-TTS) sounds clear, not tinny or compressed), screen is plenty bright, menus are intuitive, touch screen is perfect sensitivity, updating software and adding new vehicles via Garmin website was a breeze, maps and navigation are accurate, map panning is quick and smooth. I have not tested the bluetooth, I just use speakerphone feature on my cellphone. Very happy with my purchase.
4 and 1/2 stars Garmin Nuvi 265wt GPS December 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this GPS. I also had a MIO and hated it. Difficult to use and it doesn't have the maps directly on it. The Garmin Nuvi 265wt is great. Turn it on and it's ready to use. It's very easy to enter your home info and then where you want to go. It's also really easy to get the opposite directions. I love that it not only shows you what speed you're going but the speed limit on the road you're on. It's easy enough to change the car icon or voice. I love that the traffic info is free, no spending extra money to sign up for traffic updates (but if you want to you have the option.) The only thing I didn't like is that if you don't want to take toll roads it doesn't give you alternate routes (or at least I haven't figured out how to get that option yet.) That's why I really gave it 4 and a half stars not 5. Also, it's easy enough to download and print out the manual. Yeah it's for 4.3 inch paper, but guess what, it fits on normal paper (8 1/2 by 11)! So print it out and then cut it down to size if you want, but don't knock the unit because you didn't get a manual! That's just petty.
Top Notch!! November 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using the Garmin 265wt now for a couple of months. It is excellent. Works great and simple simple simple. Easy to navigate the menus through intuitive touch screens. I've yet to use the feature that routes me around heavy traffic (in major cities only) but like everything else, I'm sure it will deliver the goods when I need it.
For me, this unit was the right combination of features and price. I didn't need/want MP3 players and a cell phone connectivity and etc etc etc like you'll find on all the higher priced Garmin models. This is one of those gizmos that I wish I had bought 3 years ago --- I like it that much!!
No Price Adjustment to purchase item on Amazon November 29, 2008 4 out of 32 found this review helpful
I have purchased a Garmin 265WT couple of days ago. Just checked with Amazon and found out that there's on sale. The price is $30 cheaper than couple of days ago. I have called to Amazon and asked for the price adjustment. The representative told me that there's no price adjusment available in Amazon. The only way to get $30 back is to return my received unit and place the order again to get the current cheaper price for the same unit. It's a painful exercise...
Year ago 265WT would have cost three times as much November 27, 2008 22 out of 34 found this review helpful

The nüvi 265WT, like other Garmin nüvi GPS devices, excels in the ease of use department. The map is easy to read, menus are intuitive, and an updated interface makes it easier to view traffic alerts. Features are nicely integrated so as not to needlessly clutter the screen. For example, telephone controls only appear when the nüvi is actively paired with a Bluetooth phone.
Cons: Screen not as bright as more expensive nüvi models No way to avoid a specific road from a planned route Can't change information displayed in the data field on the map (more expensive nüvi 7x5 models let you choose between arrival time, distance, Lackluster Bluetooth hands-free speakerphone call quality Searching POI database by spelling a business name is slow Cannot sort Favorites alphabetically; saved addresses always listed in order of closeness to your current location Can't customize the colors or layout of the map Touchreen less sensitive than older models. Requires a firmer touch. Touchscreen is a fingerprint magnet No way to exclude a specific road or highway from the planned route Can't customize the information displayed on the map screen's information bar (the nüvi 7x5 models let you cycle between distance, remaining time, direction of travel, elevation, or time of day ) Internal speaker isn't loud enough Limited Detour function Lacks the rubber protective coating found on the nüvi 7x5 series nüvis Cannot connect to both a Bluetooth headset/earpiece and a cell phone at the same time. Bluetooth implementation doesn't support A2DP
