Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The PRICE is worth the PAIN!   November 22, 2008
BUY THIS PRODUCT! That is of course, if you are familiar with computers. It does not come with GPS software and you have to essentially set up everything on this unit. Be prepared to spend at least a full week trying to not only set up the device, but to use all of it's features as well.

However, for the price, this is the best deal in town. Buy your own GPS software/SD Card (for me it is Delorme 2008 and a Kingston 2GB SD Card) The GPS works as good as if you bought the pricey 535+. However, that is of course if you get past the initial GPS setup:

Go to Pharos's website and download their ComSplitter program (free) and you will find that the GPS is located on COM8 and set the splitter to having an output of Com5 (BAUD 57600). Then, go to your settings GPS page and set that to COM8 as well. THEN, after you install delorme on it go to your Delorme program settings page, and select COM5. Turn on the ComSplitter, and your in buisiness.

THE GPS WILL WORK NOW, BUT IT WILL JUST BE AN ARROW W/O A MAP!

GPS Map Download:
This is supposed to be automatic, but for me I had to manually Copy/Paste my maps. Select the area (since it's likely the Whole USA WILL NOT FIT ON YOUR PDA)you wish to copy, save the file in your delorme program, and then:

1 Connect the Windows Mobile Device to the Desktop PC.
2 Browse to C:\DeLorme Docs\Mobile Maps.
Note: C:\DeLorme Docs\Mobile Maps is the default location of saved maps for Street Atlas USA 2007 Handheld. If you have changed the location, browse to that location instead.
3 Select the map(s) you wish to copy to the Windows Mobile Device.
4 From the Edit menu, click Copy.
5 Close the open windows.
6 Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop or click your Start button and then double-click My Computer.
7 Double-click Mobile Device.
8 Double-click My Windows Mobile-Based Device.
9 Double-click your storage card.
10 From the Edit menu, click Paste. The files are now copied to the Windows Mobile Device.

I HOPE THIS SAVES YOU A LOT OF TROUBLE LIKE WHAT I HAD, and HAVE FUN!

P.S. Both Delorme and PHAROS Tech support were completely useless which is why this took me a week.

5 out of 5 stars OMG! Great device!   March 4, 2008

This device has everything for the busy person, whther you work from home or in an office. The entertainment features are nice, and there is practically no learning curve. Security on this device is wonderful, and the Windows Mobile platform is actually a lot less quirky than XP or Vista (whodathunk? LOL) If charged correctly, the battery lasts for well over 8 hours, and the touch screen keyboard is very responsive. Of course, you can change the screen orientation, listen to music, and download programs as well.
Cons: Well, the security may be a little tight for those who enjoy sites that offer downloads, and the sensitive screen may be difficult for someone who has poor vision. If you're looking to purchase this device with the software already included, spend the extra 80 or so bucks and get the 535+ which comes with the Ostia software. Otherwise, you'll be purchasing this separately (NAV02) for about $100 later. I haven't seen an external keyboard or ruggedized case (a definite wish list item if you're a work at home mom with kids), but these items may present themselves in the future.
